RouteSky Terms of Use.
Effective: 26 May 2026 · Last updated: 6 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("RouteSky Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Alderframe Ltd, registered in England and Wales ("Alderframe", "we", "us", "our"), and govern your access to and use of the RouteSky iOS application and related services (together, "RouteSky" or the "App"). These supplement, and must be read together with, the main Alderframe Terms of Use & EULA; where this document differs in relation to RouteSky, this document prevails.
By downloading, installing, accessing or using RouteSky, you accept these RouteSky Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the App. Section 14 contains additional terms required by Apple when you obtain RouteSky from the Apple App Store.
What changed on 6 October 2026. We updated these terms to reflect RouteSky’s navigation functionality, the optional Community Reports feature, our moderation controls, driver-safety requirements and the routes for raising legal or safety concerns.
1. Navigation aid only — important safety notice
RouteSky provides route-planning and navigation features, including turn-by-turn guidance, spoken directions, estimated arrival times and rerouting where available, together with weather information for your route, Journey Scores, departure-time suggestions and optional Community Reports. RouteSky works on iPhone, CarPlay and Apple Watch.
RouteSky is an aid to navigation only. You remain responsible for driving safely and for keeping proper control of your vehicle at all times. You must observe road signs, road markings, traffic laws, official restrictions and closures, actual weather and road conditions, and instructions from the police, emergency services or any other competent authority. Do not follow an instruction, route or suggestion from RouteSky where doing so would be unsafe or unlawful. What you see on the road always wins.
RouteSky does not:
- guarantee safety, prevent accidents or replace your own judgement;
- guarantee the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of route, traffic, weather or Community Report information;
- replace official road-authority guidance, emergency alerts, traffic signs or local laws.
Set up your route before you set off. While driving, interact with RouteSky only in ways that are lawful and safe where you are — for example through CarPlay, Apple Watch, Siri or other hands-free controls — and never hold or handle your phone while driving where the law prohibits it. If you need to change a route, add a stop or submit a Community Report and cannot do so safely hands-free, stop somewhere safe first or ask a passenger.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher). If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these RouteSky Terms on your behalf and supervise your use.
3. Licence to use RouteSky
Subject to your compliance with these RouteSky Terms and the applicable Apple Usage Rules, Alderframe grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to download and install one copy of RouteSky on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, and to run that copy for your personal, non-commercial use.
This is a licence — not a sale. We and our licensors retain all right, title and interest in RouteSky and all related intellectual property. Any rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
4. Route, location, weather and report accuracy
Route, navigation, traffic and weather information shown by RouteSky is derived from third-party sources, including Apple’s MapKit and WeatherKit, and Community Reports are contributed by other drivers. Such information may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or interrupted, and conditions can change rapidly. RouteSky and Alderframe do not promise that any route, direction, location, weather or Community Report information is accurate, complete, reliable or up to date. Routes and directions should be treated as suggestions, and Community Reports as unverified observations from other drivers. This does not affect your statutory rights, including your right to digital content that is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
5. RouteSky Pro — subscriptions and Lifetime purchase
Certain advanced features (collectively, "RouteSky Pro") are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions and as a one-time purchase, RouteSky Pro Lifetime. These may include weather sampled along the whole route corridor, departure comparison across a longer window, multi-stop road trips with a briefing for every leg, and unlimited saved trips. Pricing, billing period and entitlements are disclosed at the point of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. RouteSky Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (for example, monthly or yearly) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and again at each renewal, using your Apple ID payment method.
- Manage or cancel. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your Apple device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Free trials. Any free trial or introductory offer is available once per user / Apple ID household per offer, in line with Apple’s rules. If you cancel before the end of the free trial, you will not be charged.
- RouteSky Pro Lifetime. A single, non-renewing in-app purchase charged once to your Apple ID. It unlocks the RouteSky Pro features for the Apple ID that bought it, with no recurring charge, and can be restored on your other devices with Restore Purchases.
- Refunds. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Your rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 are not affected. Where a statutory cancellation right applies, it is affected only in the circumstances permitted by law and after any express request, consent or acknowledgement required by law. Apple’s refund process does not remove any mandatory consumer rights.
- Changes to pricing. We may change RouteSky Pro pricing for future billing periods. Where required, you will be notified in advance and given the opportunity to cancel before the change takes effect.
6. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works of, publicly display or distribute RouteSky except as expressly permitted;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble RouteSky, except to the extent the restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- remove, obscure or alter any proprietary notices, trademarks or marks within the App;
- rent, lease, lend, sell, resell, sublicense or transfer RouteSky or your access to it;
- circumvent any security measure, authentication mechanism, licence control or technical restriction in the App;
- use RouteSky to infringe the rights of any third party, breach any law, or generate unsolicited messages;
- use bots, scrapers or automated means to access RouteSky in ways not authorised by us;
- introduce or transmit any virus, worm, trojan or malicious code;
- use RouteSky in a manner that endangers yourself or others, including by handling or looking at your phone while driving where that is unsafe or unlawful (see Sections 1 and 7); or
- export, re-export or use RouteSky in violation of UK, EU, U.S. or other applicable export control or sanctions laws.
7. Community Reports
7.1 Optional, and off by default. Community Reports let drivers share structured hazard reports (for example ice, fog, flooding or a closure) with other RouteSky users nearby, and see reports others have shared. The feature is off by default. It only works if you deliberately turn it on in Profile and accept the RouteSky Community Guidelines shown in the app. You can turn it off again at any time.
7.2 What a report is. A Community Report is made up of a hazard type chosen from a fixed list, the report’s location and direction of travel where available, timestamps, and a short context note that the app generates automatically from the forecast. You cannot type free text, upload photos, video or audio, or attach a name, username or profile. RouteSky has no social feed, messaging or public profiles. Reports are not anonymous in the strict sense: each is linked to a pseudonymous identifier for your installation so that we can run rate limits, let other drivers flag or block reports, and prevent abuse. The RouteSky Privacy Policy explains this in detail.
7.3 Your responsibility. Only submit a report that you genuinely and reasonably believe is accurate at the time you make it. You must not:
- submit a report you know, or ought to know, is false or misleading;
- submit reports maliciously, to harass or target anyone, or to cause disruption;
- submit repetitive, duplicate or spam reports, or reports for anything other than a genuine road hazard;
- use Community Reports for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any law;
- attempt to manipulate the feature, including by confirming, flagging or blocking in bad faith, by using multiple devices or installations to evade a limit, or by interfering with rate limits, flag thresholds, suspensions or other moderation controls;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent the source or nature of a report; or
- use the feature in a way that is abusive, or that harms other users, Alderframe or the service.
7.4 Safety when reporting. You must not interact with Community Reports, or any other part of RouteSky, in a way that distracts you from driving safely or that is unlawful where you are. Report only what you can see, and only when it is safe to do so: when you are stopped somewhere safe, as a passenger, or through lawful hands-free functionality such as CarPlay, Apple Watch or Siri where available and permitted. RouteSky does not prevent a report from being started while a vehicle is moving; the responsibility for deciding whether it is safe and lawful to interact with the app rests with you.
7.5 How moderation works. Community Reports are moderated primarily by automated technical safeguards. These include: structured, fixed-category reporting with no free text; rate limits on reporting and flagging; the ability for any user to flag a report (with a preset reason) or to block all reports from a particular installation; automatic hiding of a report once it has been flagged by a set number of different installations; temporary restriction of community sharing for an installation whose reports are repeatedly hidden; automatic expiry of every report after a short period; and short retention periods for moderation records. Flags are handled by these automated controls and are not individually reviewed by a person as a matter of course, although we may review reports, flags and related records when we are investigating a concern raised with us or when the law requires it. We do not promise that every inaccurate or inappropriate report will be caught.
7.6 Our rights. Where we reasonably consider it necessary to enforce these terms or the Community Guidelines, to protect users or the service, or to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation, we may: hide, remove or restrict any Community Report; restrict or suspend an installation’s ability to share, confirm, flag or see reports, temporarily or permanently; investigate suspected misuse; and preserve relevant records where we are legally required to do so. We will act proportionately and, where we can contact you, we will tell you what we did and why. Nothing in this Section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
7.7 Licence to Alderframe. You keep any rights you have in your Community Reports. So that RouteSky can work, you grant Alderframe a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to receive, store, reproduce, process and display each Community Report you submit, and the related confirmations, flags and other interactions, for the purposes of operating, securing and moderating RouteSky and complying with law, for as long as the report and related records are retained under the RouteSky Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership of your reports and no right to use them for any other purpose.
7.8 Concerns and complaints. If you have a concern about a Community Report, about moderation, or about online safety or legal content in RouteSky, email hello@alderframe.co.uk with the subject RouteSky Online Safety Complaint. If you want to send a formal notice that a Community Report contains illegal content, use our illegal-content notice route. Our wider complaints procedure is at /legal/complaints.
8. Third-party services
RouteSky uses Apple-provided frameworks including MapKit, WeatherKit, StoreKit, WidgetKit, ActivityKit, CarPlay, and App Groups. Optional features use third-party data providers (TomTom, HERE, RainViewer, Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap), and Community Reports are stored for us by Supabase in the EU; all are listed in the RouteSky Privacy Policy. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant providers’ terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy or content of third-party data or services.
9. Intellectual property
RouteSky, including its name, marks, code, designs, content and all related intellectual property, is owned by Alderframe or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. No rights are granted to you other than the limited licence in Section 3.
10. Updates and changes
We may release updates and new features for RouteSky at our discretion. Updates may be required for the App to continue to function correctly. We may change, limit or discontinue features at any time; where we discontinue a paid feature you have prepaid for, we will use reasonable efforts to give notice and an appropriate remedy where required by law.
11. Quality and warranties
We will supply RouteSky with reasonable care and skill. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality (in the UK, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015), and nothing in these terms affects those rights. Beyond those rights, and to the extent permitted by law, we do not promise that RouteSky will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that route, direction, location, weather or Community Report information will be accurate, and we do not give any other warranty, express or implied. If you are using RouteSky for business purposes, RouteSky is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these RouteSky Terms excludes or limits our liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other mandatory consumer law, including your statutory remedies for digital content that is faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality; or (d) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
If you are a consumer. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if, at the time the contract was made, both you and we knew it might happen. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or that results from your own breach of these terms (for example, following a RouteSky instruction where it was unsafe or unlawful to do so, contrary to Section 1). RouteSky is supplied for personal use; if you use it for business or commercial purposes we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
If you are a business user. Subject to the first paragraph of this Section, we are not liable to you for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with RouteSky, and our total liability to you in connection with RouteSky in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you have paid to us (not to Apple) for RouteSky in that period.
13. Termination & governing law
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to RouteSky with or without notice if (a) you breach these RouteSky Terms; (b) we are required to do so by law or by a regulatory or judicial authority; (c) continued access would create a risk of harm; or (d) we discontinue RouteSky. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 1, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 14) survive termination.
These RouteSky Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere you retain the benefit of any mandatory provisions of your local law and the right to bring proceedings in your country of habitual residence.
14. Apple App Store — additional terms
The following terms apply when you obtain RouteSky through the Apple App Store. In any conflict between the preceding terms and this Section 14 in respect of RouteSky, this Section 14 prevails to the extent of the conflict.
- Acknowledgement. These RouteSky Terms are concluded between you and Alderframe only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for RouteSky or its content. To the extent these Terms provide usage rules for RouteSky that are less restrictive than, or conflict with, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, the more restrictive or conflicting Apple term applies.
- Scope of Licence. The licence granted to you for RouteSky is a limited, non-transferable licence to use RouteSky on Apple-branded products that you own or control, and as permitted by the Usage Rules, except that RouteSky may be accessed, acquired and used by other accounts associated with the purchaser via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Maintenance and Support. Alderframe is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for RouteSky. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services.
- Warranty. Alderframe is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of RouteSky to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of RouteSky (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to RouteSky, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be the sole responsibility of Alderframe.
- Product Claims. Alderframe, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to RouteSky or your possession and/or use of RouteSky, including (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that RouteSky fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
- Intellectual Property Rights. In the event of any third-party claim that RouteSky or your possession and use of RouteSky infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, Alderframe, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
- Legal Compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Developer Name and Address. Any questions, complaints or claims with respect to RouteSky should be directed to Alderframe Ltd, United Kingdom, email: hello@alderframe.co.uk.
- Third-Party Terms of Agreement. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using RouteSky.
- Third-Party Beneficiary. You and Alderframe acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these RouteSky Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these RouteSky Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these RouteSky Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
If you do not agree to a separate EULA with Alderframe for RouteSky, the Apple Standard EULA applies as the agreement between you and Alderframe in respect of your licensed use of RouteSky, except that these RouteSky Terms shall prevail over the Apple Standard EULA to the extent permitted.
15. Changes & contact
We may update these RouteSky Terms from time to time. The "Effective" and "Last updated" dates above show when they were last revised. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance.
